Mendocino Coast Christian men's fellowship meet the last Saturday of
each month at different Churches in Mendocino, Fort Bragg and
Comptche.
The March 31st. breakfast will be hosted by the men of Lighthouse
Foursquare Gospel Church .126 North McPherson in Fort Bragg
The Guest speaker will be Ray Centanni of Rock of ages Festival
Ministries
This will be Rock of Ages Festival's 13th year of ministry in
Northern California. www.rockofagesfestival.com
It was started by youth pastor, Ray Centanni of Highlands Christian
Fellowship in Calistoga to reach the local community of youth and
share the message of faith in Christ with music and speakers. The
first year they attracted approx. 500 young people and many
responded to the Gospel. Thirteen years later the festival outreach
has attracted approx. 10,000 people per year of youth, young adults
and many families. God has blessed the outreach to now be a separate
501(c) 3 ministry. It has grown to have three stages - main, sports
- alternative, children's & latino stages. They have had workshops
on marriage from Focus on the Family, Creation Research Institute,
Teen Mania Ministries for youth pastors, Phil Joel and Barlow Girl
on relationships and purity, etc. They also have mission groups and
ministries represented at the festival for world service.
The Festival has Gospel presenters at all stage several times per
day with invitations. They have had Ron Luce of Teen Mania and Miles
McPherson as speakers in recent years. They enlist many churches to
volunteer and be part of the ministries on many levels during that
day as well as during the year. The ministry also trains pastors and
staffs and believers to counsel at the festival and all year - and
to bring non believers to the event and follow up and disciple
repsonders that day in their local churches.
Ray Centanni is an elder at Highlands Christian Fellowship, in
Calistoga, was a youth pastor for 25 years, a glass artist -
commissioned to do glass art for churches all over the U.S and is
married and has a family of three wonderful kids - a Bible major at
Biola, a Nurse Practitioner doing some international medical mission
work and another daughter who was a missionary in Burma for two
years and now attending her masters at Biola University.

You shall raise up the foundations of
many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach,
the restorerof streets to live in." (Isaiah 58:12). On
Wednesday, August 19, Charlie and Martie Elgin, the co-founders of
Pathfinder Mission in Waveland, Mississippi, will be visiting the
Mendocino Coast. They will be the guests of the many local
volunteers from churches in Fort Bragg, Mendocino, Comptche and
Albion. Many members from the above churches have travelled to
Waveland every year since the devastation caused by Katrina in
2005. Under Charlie's direction, these men and women have helped
to rebuild houses, as well as lives. As Charlie often says, "With
the devastaton came a great opportunity for Christians to leave
the pew and to 'put their hand to the plow.' It's a God-ordained
"kairos" moment." The Elgins will share their experience with
God's call to assist the people ot Waveland following Katrina.
Fours years after Katrina, the need for volunteers is still
vitally important. These faith-based volunteers are the only ones
remaining to help the forgotten victims in Mississippi. Please go
to the Mendocino Presbyterian Church to listen and to support the
Elgins in their calling to serve what might have been a forgotten
community.

Pathfinder
mission
|
 |
 |
|
 |
 |
| Seventeen members
representing six congregations in Fort Bragg, Mendocino and Comptche
travelled to Waveland Mississippi to rebuild lives and houses of
Katrina victims. Waveland was "Ground Zero" where Katrina made
landfall in August 2005, creating a 30 foot surge of water, which
literally washed away the community. The group worked on five
projects with Pathfinder mission (www.pathfindermission.org). The
work included Building a ramp for a fifteen year old girl with
cancer who also suffered a stroke, Finishing interior drywall for
a family who had been ripped off by a corrupt contractor .Laying
laminate flooring for a single Mom who also had her building funds
stolen by a contractor. |
Repairing Electrical
wiring messed up by well meaning friends of the owner and
strengthening support beams of a raised structure. The greatest
tasks performed were sharing the love of Jesus with the homeowners
and members of the community of Waveland and giving hope to the ones
feeling Hope-less. The need is great in Mississippi as all recovery
agencies have pulled out and only a few "faith based " organizations
are left to help these forgotten Americans. Their gratitude to
volunteers is shown by hugs and thanks wherever we went. We will be
heading back again next April and invite all who want to be Blessed
to join us. |

Hi all,
Saturday October 25th.
the men of Chapel of the Redwoods in Compche
will be hosting the monthly men's breakfast. The guest speaker
will be Rev. Dick Coolidge.
Dick Coolidge
Dick was born in the Imperial Valley in 1917, after high school,
during the height of the depression; he hopped a freight train to
Nashville to enroll at Madison College. In 1945, with a wife and
four young children, he was drafted into the army, only to be
released later when Japan surrendered. During the following years
in an effort to run from God's call to preach, he attempted six
different businesses and employments. While each endeavor
succeeded financially, God gave him a restless spirit which he
could not shake until 1948, when he surrendered to the call of
ministry. While Pastoring near Nashville, Dick wrote and directed
the Easter Passion Play, which is still performed in Comptche
after all these years.
In 1954 he hoped to enter Seminary, but was diagnosed with
melanoma cancer and told that he had just two years to live.
Dick's response was "If I've got only two years left, I'm not
going to spend it in school. I have got to preach!" And preach he
did, from Tennessee to Florida to California.
Dick and his wife Charlotte established the Chapel of the Redwoods
in Comptche in 1979 and shortly after began to build the Church
facilities. In 1984 he established a program for World Hunger,
encouraging church members to take home a hollow bread loaf and
drop in 25 cents daily. Many Southern Baptist Churches now
contribute to this program. At the age of 88 Dick retired as
Pastor, but continues to preach the good news of salvation
whenever he is asked.
We are so blessed to have an
opportunity to hear a beloved Mendocino coast Evangelist who has
devoted his life to bring many to fellowship with Christ.
Breakfast starts at 7-30 am.

Before hearing Dick's inspirational
testimony there will be time for fellowship, music and good food.

John Turnbull. - Saturday - May 26 - 7 AM |

In April John spent seven days in
Waveland Mississippi repairing homes devastated by Hurricane
Katrina. Waveland and Bay St Louis are the two towns where
Katrina made landfall and the high winds and storm surge of 30
feet washed away entire neighborhoods.Over 230,000
homes severely damaged of which 70,000 were completely
destroyed.Twenty months later the area is still struggling to
rebuild. The people have been forgotten by the media and thus
the rest of the country.Suicide, alcohol and drug abuse, spousal
and child abuse have increased dramatically and the locals seem
to be giving up. John volunteered with his son and son in law to
assist "Pathfinder Mission" a ministry established by Charley
and Martie Elgin, The Elgins saw a great need after the storm
for storage pods for people living in cramped FEMA trailers.
These pods were delivered with a bible and a caring hug.
Hundreds of Pods were assembled and distributed by volunteers
from Churches all over the USA. Now the Elgins mission is to
help families to rebuild their homes to a Secure, Safe and
Sanitary condition to enable them to move out of the FEMA
trailers providing free labor and sometimes materials if the
family cannot afford them . A sign "Katrina was big but God is
bigger" really moved me, said John, "I was angered so little is
being done for these forgotten people, I know God has not forgot
them with Christian ministries like Pathfinder who are helping
needy families "one at a time" to rebuild their lives and
dreams." Go hear the rest of the story how volunteers not only
change lives of others but their lives are changed also.
"Every man is a minister,every
minister has a ministry, every ministry has a mission."

time for fellowship, music and delicious food.

Calling All Men !!!!
The Mendocino Christian
Men's Fellowship
Saturday - February 24th - 7:30 @ Grace Community Church
Tim Stoen's Testimony

Currently, Deputy District Attorney
for Mendocino County; supervisor of DA's Coast Office past 13
months; Wheaton College graduate in political science; graduate of
Stanford Law School; 41 years practicing law; former prosecutor
for Humboldt County and for City and County of San
Francisco; past attorney for the Mendocino Defense Committee;
argued case before California Court of Appeal opening public
access to Navarro Beach; current member of the Mendocino
Presbyterian church; favorite subjects are history and
theology; married ten years to Swedish widow, Kersti; love hiking
Coast trails; subject of talk: "My Spiritual Journey."
Became radicalized as attorney for
the Black Panther party in 1969; joined People's Temple in 1970
to bring about a model utopia based on total economic and racial
equality; was attorney for the People's Temple and Jim Jones
from 1970 to 1977, becoming a socialist; helped establish
Jonestown in 1973; lived there in 1977 with my five-year old
son, John Victor, working in a sawmill; left the movement on a
trip to the U.S. upon discovering Jones's abuses; obtained court
order for return of John Victor; went to Guyana to enforce the
court order, where life was threatened; predicted, in court
papers, Jones's willingness to massacre the people in Jonestown
three months before it happened; in November 1978 went to Guyana
with Congressman Leo Ryan, but Jones refused me entrance on the
plane going into the jungle where Jonestown was located.
Jones orchestrated the assassination of Ryan and four news
reporters, and then the deaths of 910 human beings in his own
movement, including John Victor, age six.
After these deaths I went into
depression and deep anger towards God. In 1984 returned to Ukiah
to face the music, where there was intense hostility to me
for "leading the community down the primrose path regarding Jim
Jones." Returned to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in 1991. Had
to make choice whether would be haunted by my huge past mistakes
or would accept God's forgiveness, allowing me to fight for
justice despite my past and what people might say. Am 69 now,
and by God's grace am blessed beyond words with a loving wife
and good health. Am currently reading Dallas Willard's wonderful
book, The Divine Conspiracy, and want to be a true
apprentice of Jesus for the rest of my life.
